This is a jpeg of my "bubble fairy", again inspired by the artist whose name I cannot spell or pronounce. I'm beginning to return back to the detailing style that I really enjoy but drifted away from due to the fact that I didn't think it was as successful as some of the other stuff I was seeing, however I'm beginning to realize that I can tie in the details that I've been seeing in other work that I like so much and make this successful. I've been practicing patterning with things like the pearls in the hair and on the body and such, while employing good ole Mucha's technique with the lining. I really like the results.

Wedding Save the Dates
These are the Save the Dates that we sent out yesterday (finally!). They're really casual and were formatted like postcards. We printed them at Kinkos with a glossy side and a flat color side. I was really happy that they finally went out. Yay on saving costs! To make them easier to cut I had it so that the images were on opposite sides when you flipped so that I could just line it up with the color and what not. Cut fifty of those bad boys by myself. (Which you can tell towards the end--)
What I learned: Do a practice cut first due to lettering and spacing before okaying a large print order. =]

A Midsummer Nights Dream

Close up of an image that i'm going to be using in my cover page of A Midsummer Nights Dream booklet. Heavily inspired by an artist I have recently discovered and am in freakin' love with their work. On my cover I have basically decided to insert all the characters I never got to do a large image of, which means Hermia, Demetris, Bottom, etc. More to come as it grows.

A Midsummer Nights Dream
Two various pieces.
These are two scans of images I did earlier in my college career here at SCAD. One was for materials and techniques 2 with Don Rogers ( Fun guy) and the other was for Editorial with Kurt Vargo (also a fun guy.)
This piece was for Don Rogers when he was first teaching us the crackling technique. I applied it a little heavier than intended but enjoyed the kind of super tarnished look. It kind of looks like some images pulled out of a fire, which I rather liked. This technique soon became a favorite of mine.
This was a piece for Editorial on the Maori tribe and how the tattoos were at one point a typical thing there and have sense become something thats fading alittle bit into the past. I also applied the crackling technique on here as well =}

These are some various designs for my character design class personal project. I decided on doing the story Fablehaven by author Branden Mull, so the characters all belong to him, the designs and images are mine. I have no association with the author in any way aside from reading his books.I ended up making Seth much older than my original drawings, and will probably go back and edit that a little bit, but this is part of the process that i've been going through to do all this. Updates as I go.

Jenny Unique

For childrens book illustration with Alan Drummond I am currently working on a book called "Jenny Unique" written and illustrated by me. Here are a few sample images that are currently in the works. All of which have already been edited and altered since these jpegs were made, but it gives a little taste of where i'm going, I suppose. All images, artwork, and text are owned by me, Christi Thomas.

Original sketches uploaded
This is the sketch for the character Kevin. No idea what Kevin honestly looks like but this is how I perceived him via personality. He's kinda sadistic and is one of those characters that prefers his space over anything else. But, I think he actually does care about certain people, and is just very awkward in showing it. He's a pretty fun person to talk to.
THIS IS VLAD! AHAHAHAHAHA. I drew him with hair cause he shaved it all off, and when I tried to draw him without hair it just looked like an incomplete drawing. His character is there to kind of counter-balance mine. In lots of scenes i'll be arguing with him in the way that we just....naturally do. He's a bit of a comic relief.
Original sketches for Shell. She's already been explained via first post.

This is just to start it off.

Today I randomly created a manga storyline involving friends. None of them actually go here but for some reason they all seemed to just flow naturally into the story that was also just "flowing" into my head.
Heres the online color sketch I did of one of the female characters, Shell. The actual drawing is much better and will be uploaded tomorrow hopefully, but like I said, color.
This character is a very introverted person, majoring in music theory and creation. She plays guitar and writes and sings a lot of her own stuff, but doesn't share it with anyone. I'm considering making her the type of genius character that most others have shunned out of jealousy and that could be why she's so quiet and doesn't help her introverted nature. Also...she has purple hair. Bwhahahaha.
About the school, its going to be a private art school with a black uniform ( the uniform is to make it easier to draw for me if I decide to do mass pages *yay time saver* ) with blue and white accents. Also below, the first actual drawing of my charrie, lolz. I haven't even done it on paper yet.
